Chairman, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

After holding a number of high-level positions in state government, in April 2003, Anthony R. Coscia was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey as chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the nation’s oldest and largest bi-state public agency. The Port Authority’s mission is to enhance the region’s economic competitiveness and prosperity by investing in transportation projects and services that efficiently move people and goods within the region and facilitate access to the rest of the nation and the world. In furtherance of this mission, the Port Authority manages and maintains the region’s critical transportation infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, airports, the PATH rail system, bus terminals, and the seaports. It also is leading the redevelopment of theWorld Trade Center site.

Coscia is also a partner inWindels Marx Lane & Mittendorf, LLP, one of the region’s oldest and most respected law firms. He has specific experience in the areas of corporate, financial and real estate transactions and has worked extensively with various governmental and regulatory agencies. Coscia holds a seat on the firm’s Executive Committee.

From February 1992 to March 2003, Coscia served as Chairman of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. He has served as a director and audit committee member of several public and closely held corporations in the financial services, investment banking, real estate and manufacturing sectors. In addition, he serves as a trustee of the New Jersey Network Foundation, Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey and the Liberty Science Center Foundation and is a member of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Council of Trustees.

In recognition of his outstanding professional achievements in the transportation industry, New Jersey Institute of Technology is pleased to confer the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, upon Anthony R. Coscia.
