Kim Hanemann was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), effective June 30, 2021. Headquartered in Newark, NJ, PSE&G is one of the largest combined electric and gas companies in the United States and New Jersey’s oldest and largest publicly owned utility, serving approximately 2.6 million customers, nearly three-quarters of the state’s population. PSE&G is a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) of which she is a member of the Senior Executive Team.
Previously, Hanemann was PSE&G’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In that role, she was responsible for PSE&G’s electric, gas and customer operations, as well as the company’s asset management and centralized services organization. She also oversaw the on-time, on-scope, and on-budget execution of the company’s large construction projects.
Prior to being named Chief Operating Officer in January 2020, Hanemann held numerous leadership positions in both electric and gas field operations as well as in utility support operations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Middlesex Water Co., the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey Utilities Association. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Children’s Specialized Hospital.
Hanemann graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and received a master’s degree in business administration from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
Peter Cistaro was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and attended the Newark College of Engineering, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1968. Immediately after graduation, Cistaro started his career with Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G). During his almost 40 years at PSE&G, he held a variety of management and executive positions in gas distribution operations, labor relations, marketing, and total quality management. In 2007, he retired as the company’s Vice President for Gas Delivery.
Cistaro earned a master’s degree in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and participated in the Public Utility Executive Program at the University of Michigan and Program for Management Development at Harvard University.
He held leadership positions in several natural gas industry organizations, including Trustee of the Gas Research Institute, Chairman of the Operating Section of the American Gas Association, and Chairman of the Distribution Committee of the International Gas Union. In addition, Cistaro served on the boards of several philanthropic organizations including the March of Dimes, American Red Cross, and Newark Beth Israel Hospital.
In 2001, Cistaro was appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he served for 20 years. During his tenure, he served as Chairman for the board’s Advancement and Nominating Committees. As an alumnus dedicated to supporting students, he has funded the Peter A. Cistaro ’68 Family Endowed Scholarship since 2007.
In 2009, Cistaro was ordained a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and currently ministers at Saint Peter the Apostle Church in Parsippany, NJ. He has been serving as the Director of Deacons for the Diocese of Paterson since 2014. He is also a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, a Trustee of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Paterson, and a Trustee for two low-income, senior housing projects in Paterson: Martin de Porres Village and RIESE Housing Corporation.
Cistaro was married to his first wife Josephine for 25 years, before she passed away. He has been married to Mary Ann for 24 years. They currently reside in Boonton, NJ and have four adult married children and nine grandchildren.
Martin Tuchman is Chairman and Chief Executive of the Tuchman Group, a firm with holdings in real estate, banking, and international shipping. During his time at the Railway Express Agency, he worked with a group of engineers at the American National Standards Institute to create the current standards for intermodal shipping containers and chassis.
Tuchman co-founded Interpool, one of the nation’s leading container leasing companies and later formed Trac Lease, the largest chassis leasing company in the US. Along with his partner, he sold both companies in 2007 for $2.4 billion.
He has served on the Board of Directors of FTAI Aviation Ltd., a NASDAQ listed company, since 2015. In banking, Tuchman served on the Board of Directors of Yardville National Bank and as Chairman of the Board of First Choice Bank. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Princeton, a community bank with over $1 billion in assets.
As Chairman of the Tuchman Foundation, he is active in Parkinson’s disease philanthropy and works with organizations such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Parkinson Alliance, and Parkinson’s Unity Walk to raise funds and secure NIH research grants. Tuchman is also on the board of the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
Tuchman was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and, while at Interpool, earned a Grand Prize in Cisco’s Growing with Technology Awards program. He also received the Smithsonian Institute’s Hero Medal and oversaw the inclusion of Interpool’s material as part of the National Museum of American History. Additionally, the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society awarded Tuchman its coveted Business Achievement Award, an honor he was nominated for by Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business in 2011.
The Tuchman Foundation, in partnership with University Hospital in Newark and NJIT, was responsible for the design, construction, and financing of the Mobile Medical Care Unit project where modified shipping containers were repurposed as triage centers for coronavirus testing in 2020.
Tuchman earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and master’s degree in business administration from Seton Hall University. A recipient of NJIT’s Alumni of the Year Award, he has been a member of the university’s Board of Trustees, is currently on its Board of Overseers, and serves as a member of NJIT’s Joint Investment Committee. NJIT's School of Management, which shapes students to become technology leaders and managers, was named in his honor as the Martin Tuchman School of Management.
